Truth and Training
April 6, 2020 - Monday Edition
On this page, our intrepid student reporters write articles about the news of the day, the coronavirus, how they're coping, and how they're passing the time. Our talented student artists submit their artwork for publishing.
We hold online meetings every Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
We hope you join us!

My life has changed by me having no school and having online school. I don’t get to see my friends in person which makes me sad. I stay up late at night and sleep in all day. It is boring not being able to go anywhere. I miss going places like Church, and School. I’m sad because Family Camp was cancelled. I’m thankful for the stores being open and food and for my Mom still being able to work. Sometimes I think God is just trying to heal the earth. I get to spend lots of time with my family but sometimes it gets annoying. I can’t wait for things to go back to normal.
Many people have experienced changes in their life style due to the recent shelter in place. My nana says that there’s more pressure on her because she’s older. She is in the middle of trying to move so her house is all packed up too. But, she reads her Bible everyday and prays for all the people that have Coronavirus and people that are in the risk zone of getting it. She wants to be able to see her family and her grandkids and hug and love them with all her heart.
My aunt said her life is different now. Without softball, baseball and other activities, she said her life is slower. Like many other parents, she had to start homeschooling and didn’t mind it. She liked it. Also, she feels more secure of where she is eventually going to end up in heaven. She’s confident when she is faced with situations or problems. She said, “When tragedy or problems look me in the face. I’m less scared.”
With all the negative things in the world, it is hard to live the same way as we did before. But in the end, we know that God is always here for us.
Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
With this Pandemic we have had to be creative while social distancing… It has been weird not seeing our church family… It’s like for me not seeing any of my family because we live far apart… Through this we have been wondering, How will we be able to say hi and chat with out friends while staying six feet apart? We came up with an idea not just talking on Facetime or, Skype and stuff like that no no no…
We have been driving to our friends houses; staying in our car while they are on the porch of their house, and we have chatted with them…
Including that Pastor Bracy came to our house last night and stood on our driveway while we were on our porch and we had fun…
We chatted, he turned on his music from his car and made it loud, and he tried to sing the music, although he didn’t really know the words…
Today we just went to Mrs. Begoña and Mr. Laurence, and we brought them some homemade French bread… We chatted with them for a while, and then we went home… It has been a new fun way to communicate.
Lately I have chatted with my friend Ryan because we couldn’t go to his house so I asked them these questions, What have you been doing during this Pandemic? Have you been sad or happy? Have you missed your friends? For the first one he said he has been playing outside, and he went to the park, and took walks outside… For the second one he said he was happy because he doesn’t have to go to school for the whole year… For the last he has been missing his friends because he has wanted to hang out with his friends.
The Coronavirus has got me in the house all day. Being in the house all day has brought me more time with my family.
I also get to go on more walks with my Mom and my dog, more family dinners, and more Bible time.
But I’m also scared cause the coronavirus is spreading fast, lots of places are shutting down, and lots of people are panicking, but I know God is in control.
I’m so proud of each of you for participating in our first Newsletter!
