Claiming to be Into Jesus; 1 John 2:3-17

We often refer to Christian behavior—our life with Christ—as our walk with Him So, what should our walk look like and how do know when we are living in Him... as He would have us live? Doctor Gainey breaks it all down for us, giving us five salient points on how Christians should act. Are you ready to rise to the challenge?
1 John 2:5b (NIV) ~ This is how we know we are in him...

Don't sin, but if you do, remember... ; 1 John 2:1-2

While we are called to be more Christlike and we strive to achieve that end goal, we know that sin is an eventuality for us all. Nobody is immune. So, what do we do when we succumb to the temptations of sin? How do we get back on a Christlike trajectory? Doctor Gainey brings a powerful message of hope that can get us through the dark times and back on the path toward righteousness.
1 John 2:1a (NIV) ~ My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin...

Maintaining Spiritual Focus; Hebrews 12:1-3

Our earthly Christian life is a journey. It has a point at which we take off and a point at which we arrive at our destination, eternity with God in heaven. Along our journey, we will encounter obstacles and snares that can distract us and pull our focus from God and His purpose for our lives... with deadly consequences. Deacon Laurence Maier gives us five considerations—five things we should keep in mind—that will help us identify the distractions and avoid them.
Hebrews 12:3 (NIV) ~ Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

God Has Called Me; 1 Corinthians 1:1-13

As Christians, we are called to follow Christ. But what does that look like? Doctor Gainey illustrates how we are to mature in Christ, unifying under His name, and bringing others to experience the same. We learn that our Christian walk is less about ourselves and more about demonstrating the richness of sharing God's love with others. Are you ready to answer the call?
1 Corinthians 1:12 (NIV) ~ What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ.”

Fretting Over Things I Have No Control; Psalm 37:1-9

There are things in our lives that are simply beyond our control. We don't have the power to change them. For example, envy—looking at what others have compared to ourselves—can distract us from God's purpose for our lives. Doctor Gainey gives five key points for overcoming the fretting that keeps us from fully experiencing God. What keeps you up at night?
Psalm 37:1-2 (NIV) ~ Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.

Ambition to Help People Better Understand Jesus; Romans 15:14-33

What's your ambition? Doctor Gainey delivers a powerful message that challenges us all. As Christians, we may talk about reaching the world and demonstrating God's love, but what are we actually willing to do for Him? Can the people God places in your life—all people—feel the love of God through your actions? Or, are there times when we place our own worldly ambitions before His ambitions?
Romans 15:20 (NIV) ~ It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.

Learning from God's Little Creatures; Proverbs 30:24-28

In a post-modern world, a period when many people are walking away from the church and turning their backs on God, are there lessons we can learn from some of the smallest of God's creatures? Doctor Gainey explores four lessons that we can draw from the animal kingdom and apply to our church ministries and our own walk with Christ.
Proverbs 30:24 (NIV) ~ Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise...

Kingdom Transparency—Hiding Issues; Genesis 3:1-13

An honest truth: there is no hiding from God. Not only does he see our actions, but he sees the very depths of our hearts. Another honest truth is that our actions—both good and bad—have consequences... consequences that was must own. It's up to us the take responsibility and accountability, remaining transparent to God and honest to the world around us. Doctor Gainey delivers a powerful message of hope, encouraging us to own our actions, accept the consequences, and take steps that lead to a more positive outcome.
Genesis 3:10 (NIV) ~ He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”

The Kind of Church that Hell Can’t Handle; Revelation 3:6-13

As a unified body of believers—people who choose to follow Jesus—we are engaged in a battle. We find the fight... we find the struggle... in our schools, where we work, where we play, in our political ideologies, and even in our own homes. It's constantly around us. The fight is real, and it's up to us to arm ourselves with the loving and holy Word of God, seeking Him when the challenges come, and standing our ground to fight. In this vein, Doctor Gainey skillfully illustrates five points that demonstrate the kind of church that can stand up fight for God regardless of the challenges.
Revelation 3:6 (NIV) ~ Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

What in Hell Do You Want?; Luke 16:19-31

Here's a difficult truth. When our lives here on earth end—something none of us can escape—we face two possible eternities: life with God in Heaven or life with Satan in hell. Eternity means forever, meaning there are no second chances, and it's the decisions we make today that determine which eternity we face tomorrow. In that light, Doctor Gainey poses the question: What is it that you place ahead of God today that makes an eternity in hell worth it tomorrow? In other words, what is there in hell that you want?
Luke 16:19-21 (NIV) ~ 19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

Unleashing My Spiritual Strength; Luke 4:1-14

Your physical strength and conditioning requires working out, proper diet, and dedication to a strict regimen. Your spiritual strength is no different; it requires the same level of commitment... maybe even more so. Doctor Gainey gives us four things we should pray for to hone and define our spiritual strength. Are you ready to become stronger in the Lord?
Luke 1:14 (NIV) ~ Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.

Becoming an Increasing Participant in Effective and Productive Service to God; 2 Peter 1:5-8

In the same way that your worldly vocation requires training and education, a life dedicated to serving Christ requires the same educational commitment... maybe even more so. Church requires participation—service and commitment to others—because God requires participation. Doctor Gainey outlines four qualities required for becoming increasing participants in effective and productive service to God.
2 Peter 1:8 (NIV) ~ For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Conduct that Leads to Ministry Advancement; Daniel 6:1-28

Does your personal conduct—in your public and private lives—stand in alignment with a Kingdom life? Whether others can see it or not, God knows your heart and wants all of us to close the dichotomy that exists between what is and what ought to be. Regardless of your circumstances, God blesses those who seek His will and His way. This week, Doctor Gainey illustrates the times in our lives that we must guard to ensure we remain aligned with a Kingdom life and continue advancing God's ministry.
Daniel 6:3 (NIV) ~ Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.
